Re: the beat

It's just a mental block that us drummers go through once in a while.

Perhaps trying a different genre of music once in a while. I've been through this rut a few times in my life. I've also found that going back to basics helps me.

Peace

Re: the beat

Change your set up around, listen to different music. Listening to music kinda loud (according to other people) Has helped me to hear things most people dont pick up....or just take a step back for a while

When this happens to me,I practice rudiments for a half hour. It helps tremendously.

Re: the beat

Challenge yourself. No dream is impossible and it's never too late to begin.

I'm learning double bass after 40 years of playing because I want to play like the metal drummers today. I don't care if it takes a year, but I'm going to play fast quads!

Put your ride cymbal on the opposite side and practice playing beats with your weak hand on the ride and strong hand on the snare. That'll shake you up!

Re: the beat

Listening to live bands is what I do usually. Then watch youtube to practice the beat.
