Woodshedding

What new patterns/fills/beats are you working on?

I'm working on a roll between hands and feet: RH, LF, LH, RF. I've heard Greg Bissonnette do it on a record and it sounds amazing. Can't wait till I get it down fast....even if it takes a year!

Hi,
yes thats something that Mr Weckl also uses in his playing, he calls it the 'freight train' effect as it does sound awesome!
I actually don't have a kit, and havn't had one for over year but i can close my eyes and practice in my mind all the time without making any noise

Best of luck with your practice

I'm working on that too! As well as other linear patterns, just to get down some quick rolls.

This is a pretty cool one I found by looking up Aaron Spears stuff. I'm not a great Jared Falk fan (IMO he's really annoying), but he's decently talented and has a few interesting lessons.

Ya, I like that fill too. I'm used to playing it with the two hands together, at the same time, on different drums. It's funny how I never thought of alternating the strokes between the hands like he has done. It sounds a bit thin for me, but if you do flam taps instead it sounds pretty good. It's amazing how many variations you can come up with.

Same here. I'm also finally getting around to Bonham triplets. I've been wanting to for a long time, but I never have. They're easier than I thought, though.

Re: Woodshedding

Forgive my ignorance, but what's the pattern for Bonham triplets? Is that the fill he plays at the end of "rock and roll"?

Re: Woodshedding

No problem! It's just R L F. He plays them a lot in Moby Dick, but he might at the end of Rock and Roll, too.
