Re: drumming dvd One of my favorite DVDs is "Musical Drumming in Different Styles" by Gregg Bissonette. It has many great fill, groove, and solo ideas. Most importantly, it has lots of great information on how a drummer should function in a band.
Another is Steve Gadd's "Up Close". In this DVD, he explains some of his classic grooves (including the iconic verse groove he played on Paul Simon's "50 Ways To Leave Your Lover"). He also offers some cool groove and fill ideas as well as advice for operating as a studio drummer.
Finally, Tommy Igoe's "Groove Essentials". This book/DVD combo is a must-own for all drumset artists. It starts simply with basic rock grooves and then progresses to funk/hip-hop/RnB, jazz, and world/Latin/Afro-Cuban grooves. Included are groove and fill ideas for each style, groove variations, and play-along tracks (minus drums) with included drum charts. IMO, this is the best product on the market for learning how to be a well-rounded working drummer. |
