About the only other thing that I can sugest that go's along with everything else is STRECH OUT

This will help you relax.
before a show and almost all the time at practice Im always the first one there.
I do a quick warm up on the drums or pad for about 5-10 min then I strech for a while.
I do a lot of wrist and arm streches and legs just like I was going to run.

JUST MAKE SURE YOU DO THEM RIGHT AND NO BOUNCING
when you bounce it mess some things up bad (bouncing is when you go to stech your legs instead of just a strait pull you move up and down to keep it from hurting to much.

If your not sure how to do strechs properly look it up.
you can hurt yourself bad if you dont do them right and there is the chance you wont play for a few days.

But trust me streching will help you relax a lot.

One other note these guys keep saying no drugs and I agree and a lot of them are ggoing to hate me for this but DONT DRINK BEER it can have the same affect as the sodas and the bar will take it out of your check as well in some places.

thanks for all the tips guys...
and you're right, I'll lay off the booze esp if they intend on taking it out of my paycheck.. drinks are so overpriced anyway..
but the temptation is always there.. a lot of my friends and bandmates insist on playing buzzed... dunno

so the gig went well... didn't do drugs and i played pretty well..

it was exremely nerve racking but as soon as i got into the music and starting grooving i got in the zone and it was all gravy

in terms of technical stuff.. i'm glad i had my drum key with me.. had some tuning issues to deal with minutes before the show

thanks y'all

Re: first gig tips

Haha ahh man.
This gig you will remember for the rest of your life. When you go up there and play your first song man, you'll realize that this is what you strive for as a musician. Playing live is the single greatest feeling in the world even if its only infront of 10 drunk dudes who could care less about what you doing. Just remember when you up there thats its your time to own the stage dude and no one else can stop that. So go up there, try and put the shakes and fears aside and just give it hell dude.
Have a great time and tell us all how it goes dude.

Re: first gig tips

Cool man, first gig huh. Remember DO NOT GET WASTED OR BUZZED during your gig. Ive done this numerous times and its a risk. i recently started gigging sober, but drink after the show ,lol, and it makes so much difference. Remember to have a checklist, its so easy to forget your stuff. And most importantly play loose and have always always have fun...

Re: first gig tips

Keep a cool head, warm up so you don't get tense, keep beat with who ever your playing with (you may be on beat, but if you guitarist goes off beat, it sounds like your off beat), fell the music.
