Cool Metronomes

Since there's all this talk about drumometer and what not, let's take a roll call on what metronomes we use.. some of the best out there are Yamaha Clickstation, Boss Dr. Beat, and Tama Rhythm Watch (Mike Portnoy uses this)..

check out this cool metronome gadget.. it kind of defeats the purpose of having a screen if it's constantly hanging on your ear though...

Ive seen some like that before but never with a display on it like that.

I hate to say it but I really hate playing with one of those things
They are just so bland in the way they sound and I just seem to get stuck hearing that donk donk donk and cant concintrait on what Im doing.

I had this great ideea with one a few years ago but it kinda messed me up for a while tring it but I set mine up on tripolets at a not to fast tempo with the thought that if I start hearing them that I will start puting them into my drumming a lot more than just on the kick.
boy was I wrong and it messed me up kinda bad there for a while.

that looks mighty neat but I think that that is an example of style over function. my tama rhythm watch doesn't go around my ear but it serves its purpose and I love it

I just use the metronome on my Drumometer and those others don't have the Drumometer mode on them. It comes in handy doing alot of the Johnny Rabb speed exercises on his 30 Days To Better Hands dvd.

that looks pretty cool but you can just get an in ear monitor and it would work a lot better than that.

The last reply to this thread was back in 8/31/05, so I'm bumping it back to the top because I'm looking to replace my old "click track" metronome. This thing is so old that it has one "speed" knob that goes from slow to fast and a volume knob.

I was blown away on how far they have come. I'm looking into Boss Dr. Beat 88 series but it seems really pricey, ($149.00) Any opinions appreciated. Thanks!
