What are some things you guys are trying to get accomplished this summer in terms of drumming? I would like to put my mind to being more independent around the kit and playing more funky stuff...
Some of the books I've been looking into:

-Advanced Funk Studies by Rick Latham (the solos should keep me busy all summer)
-The New Breed (for independence)
-Advanced Studies for the Modern Drummer (for independence playing swing)
-Marco Minnemann's Extreme Interdependence (if I'm good enough by then... )

So what are your goals for the summer ?

those are some good books... for me, I'd like to widen my horizons and play some other styles other than rock.. funk, jazz, swing.. and then apply all of these things even when im playing rock

I did somthing like that a few years back.
I played in a band where we were playing like SRV stuff like rocken blues but I was putting kinda hevy beats behind it and it was comingout really cool.

i just need to find a way to spend more time with my kit... it's like a neglected girlfriend these days.. and it needs it rightful loving.. haha

uh...during summer...I want to get enough money to buy meself a kit.
Currently, the only acceptable version for me to practice is using a Swingstar kit in the place, where we have band practices. But most of the time, that place is occupied and/or closed. So yeah. sucks.

So I need money.
