Re: Drumming injuries..

Nothing quite like smashing your finger good between the stick and the floor tom rim, then looking down later to see blood has sprayed all over your new white snare head... Ahh the good old days....

Knocked a cymbal stand over during a set at a church and it hit the glass drum shield they had around the kit--it shattered into a billion tiny pieces and glass flew everywhere, I got some pieces stuck inside my shoe and got cut walking away from it. I bet they won't go cheap and use glass again :P

Man, that's some dramatic stuff, don. The most I can remember is slicing my left hand at the knuckle against the hihat cymbals when doing a fast tom fill. That's another endorsement for matched grip.

Re: Drumming injuries..

probably the worst injury ive suffered is when i was messing with the springs in my bass pedal, my guitarist knocked over a crash stand and it hit me right in the chest. it hurt for like a week.
but ive taken sticks to the knuckles, ive rebroken like 3 of my fingers because i HAD to play on them. and one time a broken stick cut me just above the eye.
but i never gave up lol.

Re: Drumming injuries..

Lets see .....

two that come to mind are getting crazy during a show and almost poking my eye out on the top of hi hat shaft. and the other was playing someone elses kit live and the seat fell off the stand and I almost ripped my nuts off. but I am back in the game.

Re: Drumming injuries..

Keith Moon took some cymbal shrapnel in his arm after he lit some dynamite, put it in one of his bass drums somehow (during a show), pushed the bass drum off the stage, whence it exploded. I read this in an article about how he was always blowing up hotel toilets with first cherry bombs, M-80s, and Roman candles, and eventually dynamite.
