My drums are stored in my basement where it can get very muggy and damp at times. I have a dehumidifier going but what kind of damage can these weather conditions do to the drums? Some of my shells are kind of warped and i was wondering if it might be because of these damp humid conditions. Any ideas?

The heat would melt the glue that holds things like the wrap of the drums together. Humidity would also affect some of the metals as it could lead to rusting. Just keep the dehumidifier going and I think that you should be okay if you cant move it anywhere else

stuff like that can be a real pain in the ass. damp conditions can really damage the wood, some more than others. if you want to preserve your drums i suggest you move them elsewhere and get some dehumidfiers air conditioners, and also cover your drums with some sheet when you're not using them

the biggest thing about somewhere damp is if it gets hot and cold in there a lot and there is any kind of condisation on anything at anytime it is going to cause the wood to start to mold and then turn into rot.
If you can move them else where and it dosnt seem like one dehumtizer is work then get another and I would look on the box to see just large of a space it is supposed to cover.

sunlight and dampnes is the major drum killers. I know it sucks about the wrap warping but that can be replaced it's the shells you really need to worry about.
look inside your drum and look for green or black spots on the wood and I hate to say this but if at all possibal look under the wrap as well because there can be other resonse for the wrap to come undone as well and mold will be one of them just like paint comeing off a rusted car there is no longer anything to bond the 2 together.

my shells are black on my premier kit so I can't really see any black spots. Everything is black!

you guys make it seem like you guys live in the tropical rainforest or something.. if its a little damp then get a dehumidifier and youll be set.. things are cheap on ebay

well were I live this really could be a problom I have just been lucky enough not to.
I keep my place in the right condionts to keep my kit safe

i think it really depends on where you live. Somewhere dry like arizona would be the best I would think.. whereas somewhere tropical like the caribbean would be really bad for the drum wood
