Re: tapping making people insane I actually have a pair of sticks in my car for that. Sometimes I play while I drive, but mostly at stoplights, because while driving is not really intelligent unless hands are used. If I don't have my sticks, though, I use my hands.
I'll bet the hydraulics on my car will be the first thing to need work done. Does anybody use the gas and brake pedals as bass drum pedals? I wonder what people think when they are behind me at stoplights... I always lurch, lurch, lurch, 16th notes or triplets on the brake pedal. Probably not good for my car |

Re: tapping making people insane Yes. I start tapping and I go into a trance, from which there is no escape. Every surface is fair game.......ah, exceptions of course.....sand for instance, does not lend itself for suitable tapping. It is far too quiet. Very hot surfaces as well as very cold surfaces should be taboo. I've not discovered a good use for burned or frostbitten fingertips. If you find yourself without any hard surfaces nearby, your forehead will suffice.......even better if you have a shaved head. Everytime I see a guy with a shiny smooth head, I think to myself "That guy does not have a surface deficit". Lucky, he is. Tappers of the Universe unite and rejoice in the splendor that tapping provides us. Samuel Morse was a tapper. A little known fact, but nonetheless true. |

Re: tapping making people insane Yeah I bet Morse drove people nuts too. I've found that the "dead pedal" in my car makes a pretty deep thump, and my fingernail on the center stack is a suitable ride/hihat. |

Re: tapping making people insane lol @ Pyro - I am mad at tapping on everything too, btu itsn't it strange how you quicly sus which body parts and what surfaces make the noises you need.
On a sidenote, does anybody have my gift, haha, I can actually play very very quickly on my teeth, against my teeth, ie mouth closed playing away, using different teeth and parts of the teeth to make noises, get some cracking beats going on, drives the Mrs mad in bed - and not in the good way.
That looks really freaky now ive read it back !!!!!!!!! |

Re: tapping making people insane I tap all the time in all of my classmates. One of mt teachers always tells me to stop...EVERYDAY! I usually do double bass with my feet, hi-hat(or any other cymbal) with my pencil, and snare with my left-hand(open hand). |

Re: tapping making people insane I have tried messing around with tapping my teeth. I can't do it very well and it doesn't seem worth developing so I don't work on it. I'd rather use my hands Pretty cool, though.
You should make a vid for us!! |

You should make a vid for us!! | That woul dbe even more bizzarre haha! It would be one of those embarrassing, cringeworthy, look-at-this-idiot type of youube vids this one lol, even more cos its tapping teeth against teeth instead of fingers or anything else against them! Hardly even audible, probably |

Re: tapping making people insane Insane is the half of it lol
My Friends get pissed off the most!
I like to grab my heaviest sticks (2B) and play on the back of a chair with my sweatshirt on it as long and fast as I can.
Once i feel the burn i just can't stop playing and i lose track of the conversation everytime! They've gotten somewhat used to it but it still gets to them sometimes.
also,
Always tapping while driving. On lunch break i go into my car and play to the Radio on my steering wheel w/ my sticks lol
Always tapping my feet intently at work thinking of new beats lol
I love playing drums, and everything i play sounds great in my head but i'm sure my Boss is dying to yell at me right now, my feet won't stop moving lol | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
