My favourite has got to be the plain old paradiddle, except sped up and alternating drums.
R L R R L R L L

No idea what my least favourite is.

I can barely play any of the rudiments by memory and it's a real shame. I should get to learning more of them and being able to play them fluently.

On a side note, I think it's really cool that this site uses the different rudiments as levels for post counts. I should really learn to play each of them as I advance in levels...

Can I play all 40? Yes.

Can I play them all from memory? About 1/2 to two-thirds, yes.

Favorite: swiss triplets

Least favorite: I don't really have a "least favorite," but I will say that I find the flamacue the most challenging one to really do right, even after all these years.

Homework assignment for drummer mom. Take the double paradiddle and play it consistently in triplet form (you can do this with the long roll as well as any paradiddle, single, double, triple, diddles, dragadiddles, etc.).
Have fun with this.
Don't worry yourself over the ruff, you'll get it soon enough.

Also know/recall/remember that there are the inside (or inverse) and reverse paradiddles, RLLRLRRL AND RRLRLLRL. They are fun to incorperate in and around the kit as well.

Please don't take offense to my post: I have been playing snare drum and rudiments since 1976. I was mostlikely playing the original 26 rudiments before you were born. Unless you are my age (35).

As for your homework assignment, been there done that. still have my original drum lesson book. Did your suggested assignment April 6th 1977.

Great suggestion though!

It seems i've offended you and put you on the defensive (a little vanity and arrogance detected as well).
I'm glad you have already done this. I was completely enthused when I was taught to do this, really.
I wasn't instigating or insinuating that you didn't do this, know about it etc. No worries. No worries at all.
