Re: Reasons why people don't play double bass

The main reasons why I haven't taken the double bass pedal plunge are:
1) I haven't felt the desire yet to go that way. The styles of music I play don't "NEED" a douple bass pedal, and I don't think I've really exhausted the posibilities with a single pedal yet, and I use the Hi-hat in most of my playing.

2) Given a choice between buying a double pedal or putting the money towards a cymbal upgrade, I'd rather upgrade cymbals right now.

I agree totally with you, Churchdrummer!
Also, I do not want (even) more gear to haul around.
For me, with no roadies helping me, I am happy with my (I know old fashioned) single pedal.

Happy Drumming and cheers,

Harry

The first double bass setup was used in jazz actually. Its totally doable when ur not using hi hats. You can use them during solos.

Re: Reasons why people don't play double bass

I have played both double bass drum and double bass pedal for an amount of years. I choose not to play either anymore. There is nothing to a double pedal most times it actually lightens your load. But over the years I have become increasingly focused on the pocket. Pocket is just my personal style of playing.
