Nope, you could do something like playing triplets with one hand and eighth notes with the other, but all in 4/4.

Again I am refering to this video that my friend brought over, it was hudson music but I forgot the title, anyways steve smith is amazing he busted out some crazy times and polyrythems, he had the crowd clapping with him, and after a while they got really confused, he also did this thing with victor wonten(I'm not sure how to spell his last name) and it was also pretty amazing with complicated times.

Steve Smith is an absolutely crazy drummer. One of the DVDs I do have is Steve Smith: History of the US beat and he does do some polyrhythm stuff on that as well. It's pretty crazy and I bet that scene where the crowd gets confused is hilarious.
