How many hours do you practice?

Well drums are fun but practice can be a real drag on some days. I practice maybe 5 hours a week, which isn't much.

So how many hours per day do you practice? How many would you practice ideally, if you had the time?

Yeah, I only practice maybe 30-45 minutes a day when I dont have band practice. I would like to practice more, but my schedual won't allow it. I'm actually looking forward to school so I wont have to work from 7-7 and be too tired to play drums.

I try to practice about 1 hour a day. and 2 and a half hours a week with the band. Otherwise my cranky old neighbour *****es at me, or the council.

A truck washing place, we go around in a truck and do Fleet washing, so days are long, dirty, and physical. I love it though, because it allowed me to buy my drum set (Ludwig Classic Maple) in about a month and a half of work. Not very long at all, where most typical summer teenaged jobs wouldn't even come close to being able to make this about of money in that short of time.

Ive gotten to the point over the years that if Im playing with a band that one practice a week is enough and I really dont have to get behind the kit is much.

when I first start with a band is the only time I will go home and really work with the music, after I get it to the point where I like it we will make some sort of rough recording and then I will just liston to it all the time, while Im driving, working out, or whatever and see where I think this part could change or just take somthing out all together and when I go back to play with the band again the next week I feel like it all fits together that much better.

when Im not with a band I dont seem to get as much practice in and I wish I got more.
right now just because of restrictions I get in maby like 30 min a month, but that should be changing soon.

30 minutes a month?
full metal, I am disappointed in you! I'm sure you still have a lot of room for improvement and I really don't think 30 minutes for the whole month is really sufficient to maintain your skills. Keep at it man!

As for me, I have trouble practicing as well. I try to practice whenever I can but a lot of times it's just hard to because I'm busy with other things. I'm lucky if I get behind on the kit on a weekday. On the weekends though, I try to practice with a band and do some gigs.
