Here in Rochester NY we are blessed to have several music stores that carry a good selection of drums. We have a Guitar Center, the "HOG" (House of Guitars), and one shop I just discovered called Cadence Music that is strictly Drums. Cadence is probably my favorite for Drums and Drum related stuff, great selection and knowledgeable staff. I knew the owner of the store years ago when I was in drum and bugle corp great guy to deal with.

besides from a guitar center no there is nothing near me.. i really wish there was a actual drum shop nearby though!!

I live in Podunk, Idaho. I recently found a little music store downtown
(downtown=3 blocks if you count the gas station). Any way I asked the guy in the music store if he had any drums. He wanted to know if I could spell it for him.

600k to nearest decent one here too. Localy it's but out of a catologue or E Bay, or by chance they have what you want. A music store franchise has shops throughout the country which are all linked and they have a web site which i really handy, their closest store 250k away. The benefit of these guys is if they don'e have an item in stock they try their best to source from any other of their stores, it's a good set up.
Even drumstick selection locally is poor, most shops stock the cheaper budget/ learner brands with no decent sticks for regular giggers.
It's real handy having manufacturers with web sites with sound files (Sabian vault for example) and some ebay stores do it for cymbals likes of Indoor Storm. I know they are not going to be accurate but they give an idea.
So every time i head 600K Northward, i take my stash of gig savings and wish list with me and load up on new toys.

There is a guitar center about a half hour from where I live. It's in Joliet Illinois. Brandolino's which is another music store and George Kay's which is about 40min away.
