Are there good drum shops in your area?

I have two Palmetto Music and Eastside guitars and Drums. Both take trades and have great deals on all drumming gear.

I once traded a B8 pro ride and Crash for an almost new Sabian AAX Crash.

we have a place in jacksonville, FL that sales over a hundred kits and the place is just wall to wall drums, if oyu want to build a kit out of an old one that have more parts than some of the drum companys carry along with really old drums.
you can buy a kit in there for under a hundred but it might be a muppet kit all mis matched and what not.
they even sale used drumheads.
I cant rember what the place is called I just know where it is at.
I really dont like going in there. Its old, dark, really hot, and you can barely walk in there.

We have two music shops that are really close. One stocks K's so im happy. Another, which is two hours away, is just amazing. They have an entire wall of cymbals, $6,000 Dw kits right out on the floor set up, And the whole staff is really nice. Every time I go there im like a kid in a candy store.

I have some pretty crazy shops were I live, guitar center which is pretty cool because they always have extremly nice sets set up that you can play, and then about 20 minutes away is a Woodwind and Brasswind which is really big and is a lot of fun to just go there and hang out for 2 hours just talking to people and testing out all the new stuff.

Guitar center is the more commercial place to shop. They're all over America and I think it'd be easier to return stuff and things like that. Their support is pretty good too although sometimes the staff don't know what they're talking about.

The small shops are okay too but they can be more expensive.

No not at all - too much expensive and no floor stock models available etc...

The nearest though is at 600 km, in Montreal

Parkway Music in Clifton Park NY ...... SPANKS Guitar Center as far as price, support, service, knowledge AND selection. The Only Guitar shop is a pretty cool place too but they lack in the selection and service department. I find that Guitar Center is toooooo big to really have the personal treatment you would experience with a smaller shop and their staff absolutely has no knowledge of the products. What would you expect from such a big company though, like Musicians Friend after all??? That's who they are and be looking for a name change in the near future. (inside info on that one)

Not enough.

I've got The Drum Shop, which is our only fully dedicated store. It is very cool though. Many different brands including, my new fav, Brady. They even now have a lounge section where you can just sit and watch drumming vids.

The b**ch is that it's all the way up in Perth (40 mins away) and they are the only guys who stock my size drumstick. ANNOYING!!

Have I mentioned Donn Bennett's Drum Studio?
It's known among touring drummers as "The Best Drum Shop in the World". Not only does Donn sell everything drums ... and if he doesn't have it, he'll get it for you ... but he rents equipment to visiting pros, and so knows absolutely everybody who's anybody. As a result, when the biggies are in town, chances are they'll stop by, and do a clinic or give lessons, or maybe just hang out. You never know who's gonna be there. Local guys like Alan White, Michael Derosier and Jeff Kathan make it a regular hang.

The staff are all accomplished drummers in their own right, and not only sell and rent drums stuff, but do drum repairs, give classes in things like drum tuning and micing, and are always happy to answer any questions.

Donn is a dynamite drummer himself (my best friend ended up playing keyboards in his band), and wholly dedicated to supporting the drumming community .. altho he focuses way too much on the kids and I'm still endeavoring to make him realize that not all beginning drummers are 12-year-old boys!

Anyhow, they might not have the best prices in town, but the customer service and atmosphere more than compensate.

You can take a gander at the place here: http://www.bennettdrums.com/
be sure to check out the celebrity drum museum in the photo section.
