"Finesse player" here. Most of my work is classical, Caribbean, or jazz-related.
However, I've been working on developing my hard-hitting skills at least a little bit - not simply hitting harder, but still maintaining control, and also, working on my endurance where that sort of playing is concerned, just in case I'm presented with a more hard-hitting gig.
I would have to say that I am a little bit of both. I used to be a very hard hitter and had a very hard time with finnes but now that I am older I have gotten to be more about tech mixed with a bit of hard hitting, and there is some finness mixed in there some where but I am getting better as the years roll on.
To be honest with you, I am neither. I don't hit hard enough or play loud styles to be considered a hard hitter. Also, I don't play things like jazz or swing to be considered a finesse player either. So I would say that I'm somewhere in the middle.
