Look for a FAT snare sound..

I also found that tuning down the lugs directly on each side of the snares(on the snare or non-batter head) about 1/8 to 1/4 turn helps to fatten the sound. Experiment with this tuning trick and see if it makes a difference.

wouldn't that screw up the head and shell because the tensions are uneven?
