African Americans have more rhythm?

Well, I don't want to be racist or anything, but I do think it's true that African Americans have more rhythm than other ethnicities. A lot of the great drummers with great in the pocket grooving and rhythm are black. I know it's a stereotype but what are your thoughts on this?

I think that this is more of a "feel" issue...the more you listen to a certain type of music, the more you will feel the groove...and let's face it, us folks (bruthas and sistas) listen to predominantly R&B/soul than any other type of music. That being said, I'm sure that there are plenty of other people on this forum who can groove better than I can on the set...but I grew up in the suburbs (that was a joke!)lol...But seriously, I really do think that it's more of an issue of exposure...Listen to funkier music, and you'll start to feel the funk!

That's true and I think more exposure definitely gives you more feel. However, the issue I was talking about was more about natural feel, if you will - a sense of rhythm and groove that you're born with.

Is Thomas Lang "black"??? Check him out and I think he can answer your question.

I wouldnt say that your talent is based on your race more then it is based on your mind and the way it breaks down and desifers music. I think no matter white or black we are all born with a different "feel" for music. (or i might just be retarded? )
