Well, it doesn't really count as a gig, I guess ... we're playing at my guitarist's house for his birthday party, on his back deck ... but I thought that since the guys have never seen or heard my kit (other than my snare and my percussion rack, which go to rehearsals with me), and it would save him the trouble of hauling his daughter's drums up out of the basement, I'd bring mine. It'll be good practice tearing down and setting up, and the first time playing outdoors.

It might also be a good time to figure out what I need and how to mic the kit ... that's new territory for me.

It's on the 26th, so I've got a few days yet to fiddle with my set-up some more, and get everything marked so (supposedly) it'll all go together easily. And I'm gonna surprise everybody and even practice, so I know the songs!!

Good luck. Be sure to take some sunglasses with you, seriously when the glare off those cymbals gets you, you'll know what I'm talkin about.

Good luck with the gig! You're going to rock the neighborhood. How big is the deck? I'm assuming it's a gigantic house since you plan on mic'ing and everything.
