Get a full-length mirror, set it up in front of your set. Sit behind the set. Look into the mirror. That's what a drummer looks like. I think the hardcore, long hair days are long gone. Look at alot of drummers from the 70's and 80's and into the 90's. Many of the drummers if not the entire band chopped their hair and improved their image. Didn't make them sound worse. The music was still awesome. I'm just your average 'joe'. I've worked as a paramedic and cardio tech for years and years and still do. When I tell people that I love the drums and that I have a set they are a bit taken back. "You don't look like I would". Maybe I have to get an Easter Bunny suit! As for skinslapper, I'm not so sure I would have the nads to wear knee-high rainbow socks.

You dont know until ya see them sitting behind the drums. the drummer is the hardest person to see, hes or she is in the back. They sit behind the drum kit. there not the center of attention. Except on solo's. not unless the drummer sings.

well looks don't count, but if you're in a band that has a specific genre then it's different. Actually looks don't really matter in general. drummers could even range from being bald to having broom like hair. really you could just be a drummer w/ a shirt and some pants and with a regular drum set.

I don't look like a drummer at all. Short hair, prepy cloths. I mean when one kid asked if I was in a band ( I said yes) they guessed every other instrument, guitar, bass, do you sing, the keyboard, are you the only one in the band? Drums?

Remember...if You're Playing A Club Or Some Kind Of Outdoor Concert, 90% Of The Audience Are Non-musicians. If You Suck As A Band,it Doesn't Matter What You Look Like, The People Will Say"these Guys Suck"! If You're A Really Tight Band,looks Can Be Forgiven. One Thing To Remember,,,in A Concert Setting,much Of The Overall Effect Is Visual. Try To Look Like Your Music. Ex: Country Band- Western Clothes,maybe Even A Cowboy Hat. Classic Rock?-grow That Hair. Metal?-i Know Several People Who Put On Fake Tatoos. It's Phony I Know,but If You're Really Concerned About Your Appearance, You Can Change It To Fit The Venue. The Bottom Line Is...get Your Chops Down. Get As Tight As You Can As A Band. Then You Can Worry About What You Look Like !!

Someone told me the other day that I looked like a guitarist and I blew up at him! I think it is a safe assumption that we can be categorized with looks and so on. But when they say you look like a guitarist all hell breaks loose!

a drummer can look like a a total geek or he could be 3 hundred pounds and I know awsome drummers who don't look any thing like a "drummer"!
