Im probably doing something wrong.
It took me months of practice to get it right and clear...

Keep practicing, use the whole footboard first then when you're comfortable enough than move your heel down the base plate while still doing the heel-toe movement and you'll see that your heel doesn't really need to be on the foot board anymore.

The pedal that came with my kit was more than big enough...it caters to the size of my gigantic feet...size 10 over here, not sure about in the USA...

But I read somewhere about heel-toe; and I gave it a shot. The pedal was fine, so I could hit the footboard with my heel, but I had to just kick my foot forward a little. I can't manage a continuous rhythm with it, but I use it for accenting beats. Sounds quite good; but I really stomp the pedal hard; as it sounds like it plays three beats instead of two. maybe something to do with the tightness of the springs...

I can do heel-toe with my right foot in the sense that i can do doubles with my right foot really quickly. when im on my double pedal i can do triplets really quickly too. they go RR-L

what my question is, is how do you play heel-toe fluently? when i try the heel toe technique it sounds really choppy. like RRLL. RRLL. does anyone have any tips on how to make them more fluent and like a steady beat?

O.K., I too, have been trying to do heel-toe for weeks, and so far have been completley unsucessfull. I too, am one of those people with huge size 13 feet (I'm 6'4" tall too) So if I put my heel on the heel plate, my toes very nearly touch the back of the cam assembly. So what I have been doing is turning my foot outward; So when I do the heel part of the heel-toe stroke my toes don't crash into anything. Thr problem is that It feels completly unnatural to me. Anyone got any tips?

I think you've got to get one foot going steady first. There will only be a small margin for a correct speed at first, but once you've got it you can learn to change it.

As for you Pyro, I've been checking out some vids on you tube regarding heal-toe lately. There are some that show you how to do it with big feet and I found one that shows you how to customise your pedal to make it a longboard.

Good luck.

Not to try and plug my own site but since it's related I figure I'm good

On my website there's a video by Matt Ritter that talks about this very thing. It's not my video, I didn't make it, so it's not like I do or don't make money by you going or not going to it.

This is the link:
http://lotpatrol.com/reviews.html

He talks about the various foot techniques and how to improve your speed and control. He doesn't give you those crap answers of "well you just need to practice more"

The DVD is a little high priced (it might have come down i haven't checked in a long time) but I think it's worth it. It's the first DVD that wasn't complete crap. There's a lot of useful info to it.
