Tap dancing improves foot speed??

My very first teacher (Casey Smith) was the one who origially said that tap dacning would improve your left to right foot speed. Buddy Rich (who we all know did not have slow feet) tap danced and stated that he thought it helped with coodination and speed.

Buddy Rich, being my teacher's favorite drummer decided that he would test to see it this theory was true. After a year or so of classes he told me that if i had the chance in my life i should take a few classes. I havent yet but i have thought about it. What do you guys think??

I once did theatre with a chick who studied tap and have long since thought it would improve your skills.

The same could be said for tap dancers learning double-bass drummer though.

I guess the rule is, take what you know and find ways of improving through other training methods.
