build up left hand speed

I think I found a way to build up your left hand speed.

I just got guitar hero for the PS2 and I am here to tell you if you dont have the left hand speed in all your fingers you arnt going to get very far with it.

it is areally fun game but it has shown me that I have no controll over my left hand at all but the more I play it the more my hand gets better and so far it is helping with my drumming as well so if you can check it out.

anyone else have this game.

Re: build up left hand speed

a good way too, to build left hand speed, is to play one handed 16th note grooves with the left hand on a cymbal. backbeat groove work well because you can lock in with the tempo and work on feel at the same time without adding too many layers too soon.

plus, you can easily shift the backbeat to play straight, half or double time grooves all in the same tempo and without stopping with your left hand.

people's hands are fast because of time and using them, so the more you use your left hand the faster/stronger/"insert goal oriented descriptive word" it will become.

a good bpm mark to start with is 40.

Re: build up left hand speed

Good tip MJ. I've been working on a left hand swing pattern to build up my fingers. I can get great speed with my right hand, in a relaxed circular pattern, but it's incredibly difficult with the left hand. I've noticed that it's not all about the fingers. The reason my right hand is so fast and fluid is because of the wrist movements that I take for granted. I'm trying to get the left wrist to be relaxed and flexible too.

I have GH3 and I haven't played it in forever.
I never really thought of it that way as being a help to left hand speed.
Thanks!
