Drum Pricing..

Not to savy in the drummers world so I figured this would be a great place to reseach a question I have about a drum set I seen for sale.

If memory servers me the set is a 5 pc 9 ply. beech wood Sonor set and the model I belive was 3500 is $2000 a high price? Also this is a USED set.

3500??? Never heard of that series. There is the 505 ,1005, 2005, 3005, S-Series, Delite series and the Designer series. Now with that said, older models ended in a 3 or a 1. (1001, 2001, 3001 you get the idea) As for the Beech wood, I never knew that Sonor made a set from Beech wood. Very interesting. I'll have to do some research on that. If it's a 3005, it's more than likely maple, as they were made to be in the same class (but not made as good as) the Mapex Pro M series. Sonor is owned by Mapex. They have been for over 2 years now. The 2005 is Birch. (to be made like the M series) I would need more information to pinpoint your set, but with any set recently, it's only worth what the buyer is willing to pay. Used sets are tough without seeing pics and such. I'll do some research into a Beech wood sonor kit. I can't rule out that there was indeed a set made but only distributed in the UK or something. Hang in there I'll try to help you out the best I can.

K, and just to get a further discription, I dont know the exact model. The 3500 as it turns out was for his full set, which included a 2nd bass and a few other things. 2000 is fo the 5 pc. I guess starting point of his complete set, hopefully I can get the exact model out of him. The set is definatly made of beech, I am thinking it is prob. not the 3005 but one of the higher end models. I wish I knew more about drums and this particular set, it is a present for someone in my family and the deal seems to be decent. I am unsure about the price though b/c the sets that are for sale new vary widly in price. THANK YOU! for any help you can provide.

Ok the only set I could find available in Beech wood was the SQ2 series which is the absolute top of the line Sonor series. (aside from having a custom built one) As far as pricing goes, I'm not really sure as I'm having trouble getting a price on them. If it is the top of the line Sonor, I would assume $3500 USD is worth it. (if it's UK money ........ I have no idea) The following is from the Sonor website .....

SQ2 shell material
At the heart of the Sonor SQ2 Drum System is the concept of allowing you to create your own distinctive voice in drumming. How can individuality be achieved? Not by simply offering
different drum shells. Sonor went further and determined the most influential components that make up the final sound experience: selection of acoustic base material, shell construction and drum dimension. Given these options you can actually build your own SQ2 drum from ground up. We let you decide on every single aspect of the drum‘s construction.

"The configuration of your SQ2 drum set consists of several steps. First you determine the shell material. Four specially selected acoustic materials are available: Maple, Birch, Beech and X-Ray Acrylic. Each offers a distinctive
acoustic quality and its own dynamic range."

That's pretty much all I could find. I wish I could help more. Try looking on the Sonor website. I can tell you that if it is a top of the line model, the tag on the drum will read Sonor ....... made in Germany. If it doesn't say made in Germany ........ it's not the real deal. Good Luck!!

My old set was beech...the Signature series. If I cannot buy them back I am going to look into an SQ2 and restart my career.
