Question aerial drums midi controller

Good evening drummers,

I am planning to build a Midi controller that will effectively consist of proximity sensors on the floor that will allow the user to control an instrument or sound or trigger samples by making gestures in the air.

My main goal is to be able to play drums by hitting the air. Do you get the picture?

If anyone already seen this or can anyone give me links to similar projects that they may know I would be very grateful.

Thanks very much

angel

This sounds interesting to say the least...I started getting into drumming when I was listening to some green day stuff (shocking, I know...) and I learnt how a drum kit was usually set up. I started to pick up pencils and try to air drum along to it. If there was as device like this; drummers could practice without taking their kit around with them.

For a more novel idea, I heard on the radio that some guy was making a pair of trousers (pants in the US ^^; ) that have an electric kit built in. One trigger on each knee, and one to slip under each foot in your shoes; and there's a socket in the back for headphones.
