Handing a beginner a neil Peart album is really a lot of help??????? Why not just hand him a gun?
I liked the jest too, but you are right, how many drummers in the first week want to be like
Neil Peart by the second week, and then the kit sits in the corner to be sold six months later because the learner didn't realise you have to be born before you can crawl.
But there are always two side to a coin, nothing like some one to inspire you to keep going, iv'e been listening to Ian Paice for 40 years and still can't go near him, but i persevere.
The Carmine Appice book i first started out with was daunting at the time, but as a learner and thinking i'll be as good as him by the time i get through it
,didn't do me any harm.
