I definitely agree on the socks. Once I started playing in socks I couldn't go back. Too bad my school jazz band requires me to wear shoes when we have gigs but during practice I'm always in socks! And for those 450 pairs of identical socks, that sounds very nice actually, but maybe a bit overkill
I realize that looks silly. I should have explained it better. I was having trouble wearing out my socks. My family gave me 36 pair every Christmas, and I'd trash them by the end of the year.
I did not buy those individually. The Singer in my band came to practice with a box big enough to put a dryer in.... Full of Nike Socks.
His Dad works US Justice Department. The socks were confiscated in an organized crime case. They were stolen off freight trucks. The insurance paid the claim, and somehow his Dad wound up with 2 boxes of socks. Sean convinced I needed socks way more than he needed 1100 pair, so he sold me 1 box (550 pair), for $100.00.
Hell Yea!!!! I thought I hit the damn Lotto. I haven't bought socks in about 7 years.
I would have taken that deal too! I do wear out socks pretty quickly but I have switched over to thicker ones that take longer to be ripped apart by my bass drum pedal
In my opinion, my old Asics wrestling shoes work the best but my UA running shoes provide the most ventilation and comfort. It's all just a matter of preference. Any shoe made to be lightweight for athletes is a good choice; because let's face it, drummers ARE athletes!!
