Books

Three helpful books that are not as much instructional but more informative and useful and will improve your drumming skills with the insider info.

First book has plenty of tips and info that is handy stuff to know. With professional tips from Rick Van Horn who has done many write ups in Modern Drummer Magazine.Easy to read and not expensive.

For the beginner, this book will answer a lot of questions i see popping up on this site.
It's called Tipbook Drums and written by Hugo Pinksterboer it is a good reference to tuning , drum head/ drum choice. cymbals, buying, hardware, sticks, setting up maintenance, brands, set ups and some history.
For the money it's worth getting if you have just started or are going to start playing drums to intermediate level.

Book two is called The Cymbal Book written by the same author.
Covers all you need to know about cymbals, all levels.

Third book is for drummers out playing gigs or about to, any level.
Written by Rick Van Horn it has many concepts that will save you having to learn the hard way.
It's called The Working Drummer.

Next birthday, Xmas, etc be sure to add to your wish list

Anyone witht any other concept books worth a mention please submit .

Another to mind i have which is very good is Peter Erskine's Drum Concepts and Techniques.
Intermediate level, is very good for the serious drummer.

I agree with all those choices. The cymbal book is really cool. Everything you would ever want to know and more. I recommend it also.
