The custom fitted plugs are excellent, i got mine through work, i think retail they are called ultimate ears specially designed for musicians with interchangable filters.

GMTB is so right, it is sensible to splash out on some decent ear plugs that are comfortable as you will more likely wear them, than the el cheapo's that are likely to sit in the bottom of the ball of string bag because they are a pain to fit , get lost easy, and block out too much. Use those ones for the jackhamer .

If your strapped for cash the Sonic 2's would be a better bet, any gun shop should have them.

I do agree Mouse, though the ultimate ears are looking good they re expensive if you are not a full time pro. There is a balance to be had and if one was to go to your local Audiologist I am certain they will fit you with a custom moulded plug with variable filter for around $100USD. They may not be as flashy as the UE as they are top end, but they will do the same job. From what I can see the UE are more of 'in ear monitors' and require different manufacturing thus the price.

The sonic 2 plugs I can't see of being any benefit acoustically.

Shazzam!!! that range looks pretty scary dude.
