Upstroke...you are a truly confused induvidual.I have never once insulted you or your style preference of music. You relentlessly continue to provoke and if you wish to continue, be my guest.Just learn how to deal with being poked when you are prodding. And what was with the nonsensical PM you sent me yesterday? No response to that?Yeah, tell me where I can put one of your drumsticks...god,and you say I act like a 6 y/o.I have heard the human mind begins to regress in its later years. You are proof.

Guys, seriously. This is getting a tad out of hand.

Now all of you at some point or other, have expressed a love of uniqueness in fellow drummers. I think you're all going for the same goal here but missing eachothers point.

Lastditch, if Upstroke is irritating you with his backchat, then don't provoke him. Upstroke, if you're not arguing with the guy, then stop revving him up.

I know one of you has said "I'm not here to make friends" before, but lets face it, this isn't work. This is an international social gathering for drummers, so lets try not to annoy eachother constantly or other new people visiting the site will be put off entering because of your bickering.

All y'all! Pull your socks up! Get your heads right, and lets talk some Percussion already!

Te-e-e-n-hut!!

Aye,Aye, Sir. Head out. Eyes straight. Yes Sir.
You're dead on right Skinslapper. I had just decided to poke some unecessary
fun at Lastditch. I agree that none of the crap does the site any good. It certainly does not do myself or Lastditch any good either. My apologies again Lastditch. Lets move on to something positive.
WOW. With my head out of that dark, stinky place, I can see a lot better now. I thought that I was just whackin my membraneaphone too much. It's nice out here. Onward and upstroke.

Are ya' havin' fun whackin yer wood??? Then who cares?? I don't think Simon Cowell is going to stop by this week & check on any of us. I hope not. I'd get a "D"
Serious time....Just be careful not to create some bad habits. ie; bad grip, sloppy rudiments,
not learning rudiments. and other crap like that. Enjoy
["A drummers job is to just play a straight beat". That is crazy talk.
/QUOTE]

My thoughts are not so in some ways, the optimium is to play for the song and listen to your sourroundings and make sure you are fitting in.
Playing a straight beat is the best tact as it is the base/ groove that is needed to underline the music, however, by adding colour with dynamics and feel sprinkled on top, will make the music shine.

[QUOTEI feel if you have a "problem" that you can't get straight,be it grip or whatever then consult a pro.]
Problem is some just don't know when they have bad technique, have no idea, which is easy to get around by taking an attitude where it is good to get advice from a peer who has some knowledge on the subject as stated.
Self evaluation will improve your playing and learning skills.
This reasures that what you are doing is on the right track. Where constructive critism is to your benifit, take it all in. Myself, untalented but so having a persistant passion for drumming, researched and found out for myself the most suitable way to apply different things about drums and technique to improve my playing ability.
Probally seeking a tutor during the early learning stage of a drummer is the easiest way, don't be too shy to learn and be corrected.

What do guitarists say when they meet?
"Hi, i'm better than you".

Ya some of the times i do the basic beet Da da dee da, da da dee da, but when its "heavyer" music its beter to improvise with ur suroundings.

Playing in church keeping a beat, while playing the proper dynamics, putting in an occasional fill, or Cymbol Crash where appropriate, is about the most I can or should do. I try to vary the beat I'm playing in some way between the chorus and the verses. For the most part my philosophy for the type of playing environment I'm in is Keep It Simple Stupid!!!
