Question Intro + Help Needed...

Hey guys,

i'm a newcomer to the forum, just registered a short while ago. i used to go on the PDF a lot, but i could never post anything on the site for some strange reason... anywho, I just decided to make a mark on this forum by introducing myself.

my name is Ademiwalore, but please refer to me as my nickname, Ademi... lots to know about me, but all that's not really necessary. I'm in a band called Hydra (www.hydra-.tk for more info on us; please visit the site) and have been drumming for about 2 years. I am primarily a rock/metal drummer, but I also started to learn jazz about a year ago by means of playing in my school's jazz band. if you would like to see my kit specs, please visit my band website or look in my profile.

and now, for my questions

1. I am looking to buy a double bass pedal in the future, perhaps in the winter. I currently own a PDP double pedal, which i purchased for $100. The pedal is certainly not a good one, and i'm sure that everyone else agrees with me, which is why i need to get a new one. Can anyone recommend one that would be most suitable for me? (pearl, tama, axis, sonor, dw, pdp, gibraltar, et cetera...) and another thing that has kept me skeptical about certain pedals is my large foot and shoe size (my foot is about 13.5 inches long, and i wear a size 15 shoe).

2. Could you guys check out my kit specs and give me a rough estimate of how much my entire kit would cost? any ideas would be appreciated...

any replies would be helpful...

Firstly, glad to have you on board bro.

Now about this pedal bizzo. Any of the pearl powershifter pedals have a sliding foot-plate which can help with those hummungus peds of yours. Aside from that, Dw has a good sized plate, unless you wanna get some bigass longboards, like axis provide.

It shouldn't bug you too much anyway. Heel-up technique is largely dependant on the ball of your foot pushing against the middle of the plate.

If you need to keep the price down, I'd suggest looking at the gibralter Dual-chain pedals. They feel a lot like the pearls these days for half the price.

Really, the best thing you can do, is just get out and try them all. You're giving those storepeople enough money for the thing, make 'em work for it.
