Drums on a Plane

I have a gig coming up and am being flown in. I have not tried to fly with any drums in the past and was wondering if anyone has any experience with this. I plan on taking my snare (in a soft case) my stick bag and, if I find a good way to, my kick pedal (kit is being provided). The latter is what I am most concerned about. I feel pretty confident that I can take the snare and stick bag as carry on luggage but am afraid the kick pedal could cause delays at security. Any ideas?

Todd

How heavy duty is your cick pedal, cause it could be shipped. Or is it relly expencive? or bulky?

It's an older Iron Cobra (the gray/silver One) that I am very fond of. Is is set just right and has been through a lot of gigs with me without fail. I don't want to lose it. If I check it I may be better off, I don't know. I just don't want any delays or hassles.
