Help with Double BAss

HEllo all, I was just wondering if anyone could help me find the ideal tuning and pedal tightness for double bass. I had it down really well to where i could play incredible speeds, and then i tuned my bass to more of a slap sound, like you hear in most bands today and i cant seem to regain any double bass skill. IT seems like my feet want to go too fast on this tuning and create a very inconsistent muddy sounding roll. just lemme know it is ver ymuch appreciated.

Re: Help with Double BAss

The response off the head is very important, that happens to me as well.I like a really loose bass drum head and a "big" pretty loose action on my beaters.By big I mean the backswing is very long as opposed to alot of dbl bass drummers who set the beater angle ridiculously close.I have learned to play w/ my foot back quite far down on the footboard.Like halfway. This with the action of the springs has help.It was hard to control right off the bat but,its getting there. What kinda pedal are you using?
