Re: Quieter drums Elaborate for more response.
Why do you want them quieter?
Problems with neighbours, too loud for your playing situation, etc.??
There are many ways to muffle drums or reduce their noise with hearing protection. Your playing level, sticks that are used, head selection, the room your drums are in etc. are all variables to consider.
Drums are loud instruments and need to be especially in an electric band. They need to cut through and provide the rhythm for the dancers. The more absorbing surfaces the drum air has to move through, the louder they need to be.
IMO muffled drums sound terrible.
I can play quiet gigs by simply using lighter sticks and lighter playing technique. |
