Re: Proud Moment

Amen to that Skinslapper,..........although i seldom do gigs nowadays,.........i still am respected , though not as good as my mentors and previous teachers but they respect me becasue of how i share what i know to them,................some guitarist but not all are afraid that their licks and riffs would get stolen once they share their stuffs.

Re: Proud Moment

Couldn't agree more with skinslapper, though I must admit that as I read this thread the first analogy that came to my mind was that of drummers being like the american football offensive linemen of a band. The band can't do anything without a good one, but you never notice them unless they're bad. The quarterbacks, running backs, and receivers get all the chicks, but they can't do what they do without a good foundation. That's us, man.

The gear thing... personal story: my one guitarist (at whose house I used to keep my gear) came up to me before a gig one time and said he wanted to watch/help me put my kit together, so he knew how to do it in case I was ever stuck at work or something before a gig and it needed to be hauled in/set up in my absence.

He stuck around about 5 minutes. Enough said.

CJDG i didnt mean to be harsh on the subject, i apologize if i came out too strong. I completely agree with you on your stand with some guitarists out there, having those ego wars, at some point of my younger years i was at that point. but as you get older you tend to mature.
DON'T!!!!

Apologize I mean. Speaking out like you did is kinda rare these days, even more so in men. So you took a stand and confronted in a constructive way. Thank you for that.

<injecting rant> So many people today feel like they don't have a right to disagree with another person unless they treat them with disrespect. Written word can just be confused and twisted so easily when people refuse to see the grey. I don't enjoy the eternal dance of "walking on egg shells" that many do today. People get their feelings hurt WAY too easily. <end rant>

I look forward to future conversations...
