Proud Moment There are many times I can count as proud moments in mu musical life. Like the first time I hung out with famous musicians and found out they knew who I was. This weekend I hung out with several Legends like Kenny Daniels, Marc Benno, Stedy Freddy, and Denny Freeman. A lot of you younger drummers probally do not know these names but these are musicians that have recorded and played in the bands of Bob Dylin, The Doors, Jimmy and Stevie Ray Vaughn, The Dead Pyrates Sociaty, and even Paula Nelson. The reason it was a proud moment is we all had one thing in common. We used my cymbals. The proud moment came when this appeared on a national website.
(I would like to send out a very special thank you to Danny Meazell who once again showed up and helped me and all the other drummers out last Saturday night. Danny has the best cymbal collection I have ever played on and I do want everyone how much the Dead Pyrates love Danny. What a great guy.
Thank you Danny.)
Thank you for listening (Reading) to my brag

Re: Proud Moment Nice man... It is moments like these that make me appreciate the drumming community. I feel like so many other groups, like guitarists, would rather sit in flame wars instead of sharing inspirational stories like these.
Gratz man you have every right to brag and I have every right to be sad I missed it |

Re: Proud Moment Good for you bro - just goes to show that we drummers are the business, no matter what level we're at. |

Re: Proud Moment Nice of him to do that, we should have more people like that. anyway, not to be harsh on the subject, but as a musician that guitar is his main instrument and drums the second, i feel obligated to say that not all guitarists are in ego wars, though some of them are, (but that goes with any musicians or people in general) But i try my best to be that guy that will go out on a limb to lend a hand to anybody. |

Re: Proud Moment Unfortunately, in my experience, the majority of guitarists do bicker, poke, and prod... They have been blinded in the fact that a sound for one person can be beauty and for another nails on a chalkboard. Drummers, in my experience, tend to get a vibe off each other... and when sharing some new sound, cymbal, drum, or whatever come together to enjoy and investigate.
The difference between the two is night and day, sadly enough.
I don't know the figures of how many guitarists or drummers sit in flame wars with percentages or anything. My intent was not to offend, just to state my view on another musical community compared to the drumming community that I have experienced. I wish I would come across more situations where I see guitarists reacting in positive ways. If it were not for my brother getting me involved in this other musician forum a couple years back my view would be even more skewed. The ratio of guitarist there is about 90% or better... funny enough they can seem about dead even sometimes between sharing and screaming. So I decided to pick up a guitar and help participate in the sharing. The only way to help a change is to involve yourself right!?
Thanks for speaking up "the_duggler" cause it gave me an opportunity to explain instead of leaving something out there with questionable intent. |

Re: Proud Moment I think drummers are like the Jews. We share an unspoken bond brought fourth buy our suffering. The gear we have to lug around, being stuck at the back of the stage, first one to arrive, last one to leave. Guitarists generally just rock up, plug in, wow the crowd, then piss of to the bar without helping you to pack up. 'Tis a thankless task, but I do it with pride, for I know where I sit in my band and I enjoy being the true back bone. |

Re: Proud Moment yea i think that the stuff that we have to lug around and being stuck in the back stage kinda sucks, but it comes with playing drums.
CJDG i didnt mean to be harsh on the subject, i apologize if i came out too strong. I completely agree with you on your stand with some guitarists out there, having those ego wars, at some point of my younger years i was at that point. but as you get older you tend to mature. |
