Holy Grail of Instructional DVD's

Here is my pick of the best for hand technique. IMO best money you could spend to improve your playing.

It's called "Secret weapons for the modern drummer", a hand guide to technique.

JoJo Mayer presents this guide of not so modern but proven over time techniques for drummers of all skill levels.
Very good explanations and interesting detail on grip and other concepts.
I got my copy from EBay, it's a Hudson Limited DVD and very good value at 3 hours running time, an invaluable and cheap lesson.

Only fault with this is, it wasn't available 20 years ago.

No serious drummer should be without a copy.

I've been eyeing this one as well. Can you elaborate more on the videos?

I've seen it compared to the Joe Morello Drum Method DVDs. Have you seen those and if so how do they compare?

Joe Morello DVD's are good, it also includes good foot technique. Secrets is hands only and concentrates on technique, grips, stick control and has great explainatations. IMO better, it does incorporate Joe Morello's style, and lots more.

Another excellent DVD is Creative Control by Thomas Lang. His double bass exercises are killer.

Re: Holy Grail of Instructional DVD's

Just got my copy of Secret Weapons on Friday and I have to say I'm really impressed.

What an amazing treasure trove of stick/snare technique. I'll be going over this stuff for a long time and it's already helped improve areas of my technique that I was struggling with. Some of the exercises are fascinating and the injected humour isn't bad either.
