Newbie question about lessons

I'm just starting out and trying to decide whether to take lessons at a local drum store (Columbus Percussion) or from someone who just gives lessons out of their home. I'm leaning towards the store because it's just feels more professional. Also, I don't have my own drum set now but eventually want to own an acoustic one so should I avoid learning on an electric one? Thanks for any advice.

Re: Newbie question about lessons

I think in all it's your choice about where you take your lessons from, but i do think if your looking to get an acoustic set, then you should try to get lessons off of an acoustic set so that you are comfortable and if you are playing on an electric for a long time, your wrists can start to hurt.

Re: Newbie question about lessons

Thanks for the advice. I started lessons about 3 weeks ago and although I'm only playing on a practice pad now I will eventually be playing on an acoustic set.
