I think playing DB for a while helps.
After playing for a long time, I'm sweating, and my face s red, my legs are on fire.
I really need to drink more water because I usually come back up parched.

Running will work your legs more because you're standing and putting your whole weight on your legs. Lifting weights will work the targeted muscles more because of the weight. Drumming can provide a mild to moderate aerobic workout -- the longer you play, the greater the workout -- and that is positive.
True athletes know that they need to vary their workout daily, constantly asking new things of themselves. If they just do the same workout daily, the body perfects the neural pathways for that exercise and becomes super efficient at that workout, and muscle may even be lost in the process. So if you routinely play the drums in about the same way and for the same amount of time, you are strictly maintaining the level of fitness you have, not increasing your fitness in any way.
