I apologize. I didn't realize the thread was so old. I'm kinda new on here. I've often found that younger/newer players use a poor combination of equipment choices to try to accomplish their goal, then have to compensate for that in other ways. I was only trying to be helpful. I'll try to be more attentive, a less forthcoming, in the future. Again, I'm sorry. I was only trying to help. In my opinion, Drumming is a brotherhood, and anyone who's passionate about the craft, deserves my respect.

No apology really needed for this. After your here long enough you'll see that I'm the warped minded one on this forum.

I myself was teasing you. Sometimes I forget to look at the dates in the upper left corner. I've been here about a year and a half, and I still can't get it straight even though I've been paying drums for 50+ years.

You're absolutely right about the brotherhood of drummers, I consider it more of drumming siblings here at DSC. Since we all yank each others chin here and there.

I would recommend trying Evans Hydraulic heads. They sound best when they are tuned to the shell's resonant frequency. The give a deep and dampered sound. When people say they sound "wet", I'm not sure what they mean exactly as they sound pretty damn dry. There is little to no ring when you play with a band and a very controlled ring when you play solo. Good heads but maybe not for everyone (they are a one-trick pony). Then again, if you like to tune your toms high, then I have to say that Hydraulics sound great like that as well--sound a lot like marching quads to me. Just my 2 cents.

I agree EVANS hydraulics are quite amazing. I put one on my snare and tuned it very high and it sounded better than any snare head I have used!!! I have had it on for a month and its been fine so I don't think the extra tension is hurting it. The Hydraulic gives the drum a really nice crack with very little overtones. It is great.
