Electric Drums

I sometimes wonder if it is very uncommon to find people that use electronic drum sets besides me who is using a [Roland TD-12K V-Drumset]... (Considering they are usually 2-3 times more expensive than the acoustic sets. But AMAZING in the studios) So, just a thought out of curiosity, I was just wondering who all used them.

Re: Electric Drums

I played on Roland electrics for several years. Our band practiced using them which helped alot in a small studio. We used them for smaller gigs and weddings. It made it easier to control the volume and I really liked them. The bass kick head finally gave out after 5 years but I had been using a felt batter which damages the head over time so stick with the solid batters. I've head of a cuple drummer friens who did not like the rubber style heads because there wrists would ache after playing for several hours. Go ahead a beat the crap out of those Rolands, I have 4 kids who couldn't hurt them.

Re: Electric Drums

Heh, definatly. The Rolands I have are canvas headed, which I always worry that I will someday rip through them or something. I've heard that those heads can give out rather easily if you aren't careful, but I don't worry ...

But other than that, I beat on those things quite well.

Re: Electric Drums

The only time I've ever actually played electronic drums was in the store BEFORE they told me how much they cost
