Are they comfy? Can you..umm'feel' the bass/hat pedals? They give enough grip so your foot isn't sliding off a pedal?
Iono, I play my shoes off...I play with bball shoes one...I play with casual white nikes on...only shoes I don't like playing in/prefer not to is dress shoes, 'specially ones with a thick sole.

Re: are these half decent shoes for drums?

lol, IMO there' sno "perfect" shoe that'll make you better with your feet...but the difference between a shoe that wobbles on your foot/you have no control of and one that basically makes it feel liek you have no shoes on(ie...something like a cleeted track shoe). Have you tried playing with just socks on? It feels weird at first, lol, I hated it but after a little while I just got used to it and now playing with shoes on is awkward.

I was playing barefoot for a while, now I'm wearing sneakers so I can go a bit harder with my feet.

You will adjust your technique to suit the boot. Have you seen that clip of Tim waterson doing doing heel-toe? first he's playing with his own small feet. Then throws on this enormous boot and still pulls it off. I've gotten home from work, forgotten to take my steel-caps off, gone out and played. I don't think it makes much difference.

As long as it's comfy.

I think there is much more of a difference between what kind of drive the pedal has than what kind of shoe you wear. I use a chain drive currently and have hated it ever since. I am ready to switch back to direct drive pedals... The lag on chain drives drives me crazy and I'd never consider a strap drive pedal. O_o

Re: are these half decent shoes for drums?

My absolute favorite pedal is the ludwig speed king. Shoot I considered adding another kick just to get a second speed king. I had unmatched control with that thing. I think I might go the way of the B.O.A. though. I like the looks and the idea behind it.

The pedal lag just kinda kills the whole experience for me... which is why I don't care for chain or strap. Nothing wrong with them... just I feel more at home and control with direct drive.
