I play with whatever I happen to be wearing at the time, I haven't seen much of a difference from shoe to shoe. If they are comfortable and work for you then they're good.

Re: are these half decent shoes for drums?

as long as u comfortable wearing it,it's good. for me, i like the thin layer of shoes, so that every time i step on the pedal, i will not feel the extra layer under my feet..but, most important, it's comfortable

Yeah, basically if you're comfortable walking in them, they should be comfortable to play in. I prefer to play in Converse Chuck Taylor's, but that's because they have very thin soles and I can feel the pedals a little better. I feel like it gives me more control, but it's all dependent on the player. Just experiment with different kinds of shoes from day to day; build yourself a mental list of what works and what doesn't.

I have a pair of those in steel toe I wear to work. I've thought about buying another pair just for drumming. Felt very comfortable, and just good on the pedal. I've been drumming in a sock lately. Moved them inside for the summer and landlord asked us not to wear shoes in the house.

Hope he wants you to wear clothes : )

25 years ago I tried a stupid looking pair of wrestling boots on the pedals and it was great! Thin sole and it was, after all the 80's. Thats all I'll say about the 80's......

I wear military boots to work all day and if my LL Bean slippers are on my feet., I'll play in them. If my New Balances are on my feet, I'll play in them. I guess it's probably a good idea to play in all or nothing, unless the landlord says no.....

i generally like lightweight shoes
the best drumming shoes in my opinion are nike free's though they can be pricy

I'm all about "retro" running shoes. They're lightweight, and for the most part have a thin soul. I also will go with chucks, but mine are falling apart. Really, its about your own comfort though.
