Hi Hat bottom on the top?

HI all, sorry for the bombardment of questions, but they need asking!

The hi hat I have has a paiste hi hat bottom on the bottom, and a paiste high hat bottom on the top as well.

Is this a problem?

What sre the differences with a 'top' and 'bottom'? Is is thickness?

Re: Hi Hat bottom on the top?

Depends but usually the bottom hat is heavier...
What you get is a blend of the higher tone top and lower tone bottom cymbal.

The only thing that matters is does it sound good to you. There is nothing wrong with
it so long as the hat still raises up

Re: Hi Hat bottom on the top?

I thought that would be the case. The sound isn't as snappy as when I hear other drummers play live, its probably due to the top being heavy. It actually looks thicker than the bottom one, I will swap them about and experiment.

Think I will buy a hi hat top eventually though.

Three question:

Buy a hi- hat top?

What kind of hats do you have?

What kind of sound are you looking for sound? Ill try to find a pair on youtube of different examples.
