question on a bass technique

So, hopefully someone knows how to do this or can lead me in a direction to get an idea on how.
Gerald Heyward

the quick double bass hit heyward does during a couple fills. I like encorporating this style into what I play and have tried getting a foot technique down but yea, hasn't really turned out. So, anyone know how he does this? lotta pop and jazz drummers use this I know but I haven't really seen a video demonstrating how...
is it like a moeller technique with the foot lol, cause I know it's not a heel toe hit judging by videos.

Re: question on a bass technique

I haven't got the heel-toe down myself, but for quick doubles I use the slide technique plant the ball of my foot about 1/3 of the way up the board then again at 3/4. It's knd of just shuffling the foot forward over the board.

Re: question on a bass technique

ty cj, forgot about popes vids. I can't heel toe with my double peddle cause my feets is to big for my p120 or I just suck and aren't doing it right or somethin...iono.. That whatever one he did that's sorta a moeller for your feet I'm have to try when I geta chance to get on my set again.
I usually play bare foot lol so I don't think I can use your method skin socks make my feet slip to much when speeding up n that's not good

Re: question on a bass technique

I have the pacific 602c double pedal and it has been sucking for speed lately. IDK if I killed something in the pedal or just modified it to death. I switched back to the regualr springs cause the tighter ones I was using were horrible. the old springs are better but there is just too much slack. I need something that pushes back on my foot a little, at least, please... lol.

I think I just need to upgrade to a more professional style pedal. I can't afford to say the word AXIS or BOA so I will most likely move to Tama Iron Cobra or the Pearl Power Shifter.

Re: question on a bass technique

So I could not tell what that zorro guy was doing at all lol. I could not see how he was getting that second hit.

As for the pedal size discussion, I am lucky as the one that I was pretty much given is just long enough for me if I play with no shoes and don't mind my toes by the chain
