It bothers me when I hear a song on the radio and the best the drummer can come up with is a drum fill consisting of a single, bare note on a tom. C'mon! At least embellish the thing with a 2 or 3 stroke ruff to pull out the tone of the drum and make the fill more interesting!

Are there any things that bother you?

I have to agree there, single note tom fills piss me off! As well as damned simple drum beats with the only fill being a single hit on the crash. Such as blitzecrieg bop by the ramones.

Other things is obsessive smashing of the hi-hat when open with both sticks until the thing cracks in half or the beats become so repetitive its just plain boring. (Travis Barker =P)

Drummers with 3 bass drums, 7 toms and a 12 cymbals and never use more than the hat, snare, two basses, four toms and two crashes throughout an entire concert.

I agree with all of the previous contributions to this thread, the single tom accents though when applied "in the right spot" can be extremely effective.

people touching/garbbing/holding my cymbals... not on the edge.
people who obsess over travis barker and know nothing about drums.
when my feet sleep on my bass pedals.
when a drummer at a show drops a stick.
a stick breaks(a new one especially) and you don't realize it lol.
people/drummers hitting a cymbal wrong...smashing it and not following through or just with like the tip.
drummers who never know when to shutup/play softer.
repetitive beats/patterns that are basic n sorta suck.
new drum heads/having to retune them almost all the time cause they stretch ever so slightly lol.
ummmm, there's prolly a few more but that's a nice start

Triggering up drums is a bit of a copout. If you're gona go electric, then do it, but don't pretend that that is your drums we're hearing just so you don't look like you're playing a peice of plastic.

Sounds lame... thankfully I've never seen that.


What I really hate is when I'm playin' a real nice long peice; everything is flowing perfect and you've got a nice big lead up to an chorus... and an uncomfortable 8th of silence takes over as your stick passes right on by your crash. <= Suck.

use of triggers to me is like bass players using a pick. iono. if you use it for a different sound that's alright but so you can play faster/easier and not have to pluck with your fingers or be able to play ...more powerful so your bass can be heard then yea.
