I know someone who traveled with their drums they charged him almost $600.00 it would be less expensive to rent a set of drums there even if you have to put a 5 or 6 hundred dollar deposit down you'll get it back, traveling and taking your drums you won't get anything back and you'll be lucky if you get all your drums at the end of your trip they lose alot and break alot so you'll have to take out insurance, so unless you can afford it just RENT.

I agree with these guys above. I used to work as an aiport technician at JFK airport in NYC. These baggage handlers are like gorillas, like in the suitcase commercial. They don't care, it's not theirs. But if you must air them, I would sugest some SKB cases. They are quite durable and are garrenteed for life. Not only are they sturdy, the SKB's have plenty of padding on the inside to protect your drums.
