Auditions and Opportunities Guys, just from Googling Drummer auditions I found the Smashing Pumpkins where auditioning for a new drummer with a deadline for the end of March'09 -
Maybe this was big news in the US but in Ireland we heard nothing - granted the chances of me jumping on a plane or even getting a call up would be slim - but one can't help dreaming - as a request for the future - any chance DSC might put up a section for links to Worldwide Drummer audition opportunities and the like - just an idea - and a quick howdy to Der and Tainojim – I haven’t been around for a while. Phil. |

Re: Auditions and Opportunities Go for it Phil, don't let Der's lallygagging interfere with your dreams. Just be careful when you arrive, Der might be waiting for ya. Show him what a mad fight Irish can do to him if he crosses ya. Show him that not even a long swim in that pond can stop ya.

Re: Auditions and Opportunities Thanks for the smile first thing this morning Tainojim - I would have loved to go for it - but only saw it this week - a few weeks too late - pitty believe I was good enough for this but
sh1t happens - you obvisley know a lot of Irish - "The reason we Irish fight among oursevles, is because that way, they’re always assured of having a worthy opponent." :0) |

Re: Auditions and Opportunities All Irish, just as American Indians treat each other like siblings. Sibling are always fighting about something. But in the end, they get things right.
So even if this ship has sailed by, there's always another one comin along.
Top of the mornin to ya and the rest of the day to me. |

Re: Auditions and Opportunities Your right Tainojim - we Irish tend to stick together when overseas - always home from home - not bothered about ther Pumkins - God know's I'm mad busy with about 3/4 bands so happy enough playing - Rock covers with Real Deal, Jazz with Cry Baby, Blues with Texas Shade and main stream covers with THe Shinning - My wife and kids hardly see me - no wonder I have such a great relationship - oh and run my own business roomopia.com :: your key to a million hotel rooms :: cheap hotels rooms, discount hotel rooms - need to clone myself a few times over to cope - but love it/ Phil. |

Re: Auditions and Opportunities Phil,
Lots of Irish have contributed to a great majority of music and folklor here. Also in Apalacia with great stringin on the fiddles. You just have to get up and dance to it, lots of foot tappin goin on and such. Even in old western movies all you hear is Irish songs in them.
Me old bar keep used to call me Potty Rican instead of Puerto Rican, he was from the other side of the pond, I don't remember which town or village. Maybe because I was too busy asking for another drink. Which reminds me, there are no Puerto Rican hotels on the that website.
I'm not goin to the lollipop, too close to home for that matter. I'm in Brooklyn.
Anyhow manny blessings to ya. |

Re: Auditions and Opportunities From what I have heard Irish music pretty much founded country and western and modern Rock even Blues has an Irish-Afro influence - I played in a traditonal Irish band for nearly 10 years playing Bodhran and spoons - got made mostly in drink - well paid!! - Fleadh (Pronounced fla - meaning festival) a 4 day Irish music fest - where I'd start playing at 12 noon and finish at 5am - and drinking solid - for 4 days - prob. 2-3hrs sleep a night - tough but man what seriose fun - thank god don't do it anymore I'd be dead at this stage - but some great characters - I recommend it if you ever get a chance to cross the pond!!
Oh and on roomopia.com :: your key to a million hotel rooms :: cheap hotels rooms, discount hotel rooms we have over a hundred hotels in San Juan - Puerto Rico -alone:0) - your buddy bar man sounds like a Dublin man -
Cheers Jim
