Re: Any Tips For Someone who is starting

A good jam to play when your first starting is Bohemian Rhapsody.
Its easy and every one knows it.
Also, do you already have a drum set?
Well you already joined a forum so thats done...
Look online for drum notation,
as well as drum lessons near you.
Good luck, and happy drumming!

well i am kind of a beginner myself umm some tips , just listen to ur ipod and play along, i think its better if u listen to music and play along rather than getting Tabs. cause u will have much more creativity rather than reading notes it'll be good for solos and stuff :P

Re: Any Tips For Someone who is starting

CHEZM I have been playing for over 40 years I now play gigs and until recently gave lessons I had to stop for a while because of a torn rotator cuff in my shoulder I am going in for surgery within a week, if you or anyone wants some good advice what I did and what I always tell my students is this, Get some old Jazz standards records slow to medium tempo slow to start and listen to the music and listen to the drums, keep the beat in your mind forget a metronome for now I never used one and start playing if you can play a slow song with brushes on your snare drum only thats good to slow to begin with then medium tempo you may not like what your playing but it will help you slow at first and this type of music will help with your timing because it's pretty steady and as a beginner that's what you need I did this at the start and it worked and never used a metronome playing rock has fill-ins and different patterns and as a beginner you need to start without the fill-ins and breaks try this and GOOD LUCK SLINGERLAND

Definitely, I was playing along with some BeBop at school, my chorus teacher kept checking out my playing (Though I don't know if I was doing good or not) I was truly in my pocket. So that was also like slings post I guess!

I started off taking Practice pad lessons, Took a couple years off, bought a kit, bought cymbals (all used but 3). on my third kit I'm having the time of my life!
