Replace the bottom heads and get some pinstripes on them. These drums have a 45 degree bearing edge so if you replace the batter side, you also should replace the resonance side of the drums. Also get some resonance gel to stop the long ring on the tops. You'll do just fine after this. Been there and did that. Gretsch Drums Drums |

Re: heads, they are killing me did a little reading the shells have a 45 degree edge does this mean anything i am sure i read somewhere that a 45 edge gives more of a higher pitch then a 30 degree am i correct in that should i go with the gretsch coated heads and are they made to sound better for the kit |

Double coated heads on the drums will definitely give you a much bigger boost on this kit. If you already got pinstripes on the tops, then put pinstripes on the bottoms.
What made you decide on the ebony? |
